据镇政府2026年发布的村情简介，全村下分11个村民小组，396户，总人口1383人，耕地近3000亩，以种水稻为主。 音乐家李凌出生于四九镇永庆村，东方村的村民小组中就有永庆；村内建有李凌党史教育基地。 此外，东方村被评为「江门市乡村旅游示范村」。
