Towns and administrative villages are from the National Bureau of Statistics division codes; natural villages from each town government's pages on its villages, names only - and, for 三合, 冲蒌, 赤溪 and 海宴, whose pages give only numbers, from the province's lists of hygienic villages (2020, 2023) - some from China Post's address data (as youbianku.com publishes it), and some from OpenStreetMap, placed in their administrative village by China Post's address data or the Taishan government's village pages, both as Xiangcun Baike (乡村百科) has compiled them, or by the villages around them, or, where none of these is certain, listed under their town for users to place; their positions on the map are from OpenStreetMap. Names, heungs and surnames as they were in 1963 are from VillageDB by Friends of Roots (the Index of Clan Names by Villages for Toishan District, American Consulate General, Hong Kong). Surnames, and some villages, are also submitted by users of this site.
